MASE Training was founded by former NFL Linebacker Eddie Mason and was developed to help individuals improve their character and overall athletic performance in any sport.
James Thrash (current Washington Redskin) and Kevin Mitchell (Former Redskin who passed in 2007) were instrumental in helping to develop the company philosophy we believe will change the next generation of athletes and fitness enthusiast. We offer various camps and clinics through Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS), as well as provide training programs to numerous youth sport organizations such as (LYSA, SYSA, AYFL, and many of the area high school programs).
We also provide services for amateur, collegiate, and professional athletes, and since opening in 2004 we have trained MLS all-star Jaime Moreno (DC United), 5 Time Pro-Bowler Troy Vincent (Philadelphia Eagles), Chris Samuels (Redskins/Retired 5 Time Pro Bowler), Antwaan Randle-El (Steelers), Khary Campbell (Washington Redskins), Ladell Betts (Redskins), Kedric Golston (Redskins), Jason Campbell (Redskins), Rock Cartwright (Redskins), Chris Wilson (Redskins), Lorenzo Alexander (Redskins), Devon Ylou Brown (Wake Forest University Wide Receiver), along with several others. We have been very fortunate to have trained the professional and collegiate athletes, but our primary focus are the young athletes who are aspiring to become like those listed above. In doing so, we have been fortunate to have trained over a 1000 of the area's youth in numerous sports through our clinics, camps and team training services. Our major goal is to develop the athleticism and character needed to become Champions on and off the field of play!

We
Take a Three Step Approach to Improving Performance
The
definition of the word “PERFORMANCE” is
the manner or the efficiency with which something reacts
or fulfills its intended purpose. In our program, we
use three steps to accomplish our training mission.
First,
we evaluate each athlete’s mental receptiveness
and physical abilities in order to set and accomplish
goals while training with our company.
Next,
we assess each athletes current physical ability levels and identify his or her areas of weaknesses and strengths. For example, we evaluate running form, stance, core strength, flexibility and overall functional strength output.
Then
we introduce a program of performance and conditioning
drills to help our athletes improve their overall
mental and physical execution.
Our athletes will develop unselfishness, hard work, sacrifice and team spirit, which are all essential for them to achieve their personal and team goals. We are confident that the performance programs we offer will expose our athletes to levels of training and motivation that will inspire them to believe they can and will obtain their goals to go above and beyond what they ever imagined they could do! Our objective is to motivate our athletes to believe they can and will become the BEST!
How
is Performance Training Incorporated in Sports?
In all sports there is a common framework necessary for each athlete to be successful. More important than speed and agility is proper develop of foot speed and quickness. No matter how much linear speed an athlete has, without good footwork, change of direction, balance, and quickness the athlete limits their overall athletic development.
Our performance training focuses on developing proper footwork, balance, agility explosivness, accerleration, and deceleration. We teach an athlete how to properly transition weight and balance through correct movement pattern to help reduce the risk of injury and improve overall athletic performance. This is why performance training is necessary and important in the sports arena.
Why
should parents consider performance training for their
children?
The
major reason for performance training is to give your
child a competitive edge, mentally and physically. Competitive
sports help to build character, teamwork, and confidence
in children. We seek to foster those attributes and
develop leadership qualities in our young athletes so
they will stand out as leaders among their teammates.
Also, performance training will help increase the young
athlete’s overall ability on the field of competition
and may lead to a college scholarship one day. There
are no promises, but, at least, you are placing your
child in the best competitive environment to help him
or her achieve the ultimate goal of becoming the best
at their sport and potentially obtaining a university
sports scholarship.
How can a youth 16 and under benefit from Sports Performance Training?
Athletes who are 16 and under benefit tremendously from sports performance training simply because we help to develop proper movement pattern necessary to play all sports. We relate our training to building a house; if the house does not have a proper foundation it can not stand, so what we do is build the proper athletic foundation and character needed to be successful in individual as well as Team Sports!
Why
should coaches encourage their players to participate
in performance training by MASE?
Championships. Our objective is to establish greater leadership which will translate to success both on and off the playing field.
Why
should professional athletes participate?
At the professional level, each athlete's training needs are different. Most strength and conditioning programs throughout the NFL, NBA, NHL, NL/AL Baseball, and MLS, however, are not designed to target each athlete's specific needs. These programs use a "cookie cutter" approach.
We increase their flexibility, core strength, speed, power and overall conditioning level which in turn helps reduce their risks of injury. We will instill the confidence necessary to excel and outperform their competition. The more an athlete excels the greater his
or her earning potential and the greater his or her
longevity on the playing field. This is why professional
athletes should participate in performance training.
How can performance training aid working professionals and everyday sport enthusiasts?
The reality is that “convenience” has caused many working professionals to gain abnormal amounts of weight. Research has shown that over 70% of Americans are now overweight or obese. The fact remains that we never pay attention to our health until something goes wrong. That is when we begin to invest the time to reverse what we have caused simply by not having proper nutritional and exercise habits. Our goal here at MASE Training is to help promote healthier lifestyle for the working professional and sport enthusiasts by reducing stress levels by improving cardiovascular fitness, improve strength and overall core stability. The fact remains that as working professionals’ time is not something that we have much of, and this is why we offer group fitness programs that are effective and efficient and not time-consuming.
